Hello world,
After a long break from the web and comics (about six months), I’m back to making comics and blogging. I’ve decided to put Here Comes Everyone to bed for the time being and focus on doing journal comics, sketches and blogging. I’ll be posting a new journal daily, so check back often.
Hopefully you’ve been keeping up with the other RareBits Comics folks: Jen Vaughn’s Mermaid Hostel, and Jason Week’s Billy the Dunce. While I’ve been away, they’ve grown in leaps and bounds and their work makes me smile all over. PLEASE read their stuff, it’s great and will get you through the gray skies of mid-fall.
I did a lot of soul searching in these last few months about what I want to do with my website and with my work. I kicked against the idea of doing yet-another journal comic. The internet is full of both well done, and not-so well done journal comics and I was loathe to add my inky two cents to the electric cloud. However, Kristin, my wife and friend, pointed out that some if not most of the work I was really proud of was in one form or another a journal comic. Along those lines, I noticed that most of the comics I really love to read are autobiographical or journalistic in nature. Even the prose I enjoy reading is mostly memoir. So… I gave in to what I really want to do.
Hopefully there will an interesting enough voice behind the journal comics to make you want to come back for more. I don’t promise an original mind-blowing experience every day you visit the site. But I can promise you honest, authentic comics from the heart.
Enjoy!
Sam
